After a hard 12 hour graft in part 1 of the build which achieved so much, we thought part 2 would be a doddle, few hours tops… how wrong were we?!?

The morning started bright and early or me, needed to get everything ready the tools, workshop & spares so when we started at 10am we were ready to rock and roll.

10 am arrived, Elliot Wynn-jones was running a little late and I wasnt sure what had happened to Nick Wilson due to me not texting him until 2am to say we were starting at 10 (giving him plenty of notice for him to drive through from essex…NOT)

So myself and John Day decided it would be beneficial for us to drive the short journey to Mons barracks to pick up the V8 discovery which had been sat there for months, we could then use this for any little parts that we needed to keep us running. We arrived at the V8 to see it was in Bad condition, No brakes, flat tyres and brakes seized on… so we got to work changed the tyre and hooked it up to johns land rover and towed it round to the workshop ( doing literally 5mph for the 1 mile route)

we got back to the workshop about 11am to be greeted by Elliot and shortly after Nick arrived also. so with the full team in we were ready to go!! Me and Nick started by changing the Brakes callipers, pads and Discs whilst Elliot cracked on with fixing the Doors and john just cut around like John does using his landrover expertise and fixing whatever is put in front of him.

The day seemed to be alot more chilled out than last time, a bit more of a relaxed attitude was taken as we knew we were nearly there. Lunch had just passed and i got a phone call from a good friend of mine stephen cameron who said he wanted to come down and lend a hand, so with added hands turning spanners surely this was going to be finished today.

With the brakes now complete we got the wheels off the V8 and stuck them on, then it was time to sort out the dodgy electrics, pressing the horn and the lights come on, dont think that is quite right is it?! with the lights, doors and brakes bled & sorted we started focusing on the little niggly bits and giving it a basic tidy up.

The next thing i know is Elliot tapping me on my back saying he needs to shoot off, i look at my watch and its 6pm, so much or just a couple of hours worth of work… we carried on anyway determined to get it finished tonight, it wasnt until about half 8 that we had done what we could and took it out for a road test where we noticed the main and dipped beam of the passenger headlight wasnt working, the ABS light wouldnt go out and the brakes needed bleeding again. so back to the worshop, after spending a good 45 mins fixing the headlight and trying to find the earth wire the lights were sorted… kind of, now the interior light wouldnt go out, simple fix, Bulb out!! that can wait until later not a necessity plus i was thredders (tired) of electrics at this point. The ABS is a matter of adjusting the sensors after them being knocked whilst fitting the new discs, which i will do tomorrow, I finally got home at 11.45pm after my car died at the petrol station, which was cammys fault as he made us go there to get some cigarettes.

So after another 12 hour Graft, the Discovery is ready for an Mot which will hopefully happen this week. once the vehicle is roadworthy there is just the interior to get back up to standard.

Again i just want to thank everyone for their continued support, the messages i have been receiving are absolutely top notch.

Thanks again to the team, hopeully there wont be a part 3 of this build but im looking forward to the future builds we may take on.
